Fair Parking Yarra is a resident-led campaign advocating for fair and consistent use of on-street parking in our neighbourhood.

Our campaign is not about targeting individual residents or restricting reasonable vehicle use. We understand and recognise that street parking is a shared and limited public resource, and that many residents rely on it for everyday transport.

Our concern is with situations where vehicles appear to be unused for extended periods of time, are not in a roadworthy state, yet continue to occupy residential parking spaces. In areas where parking is already scarce, it reduces the availability for those who need to park their cars they use for transport, and undermines the fairness of the system we all pay to use.

We are asking Council to apply its existing policies as intended, and to ensure that residential parking permits are not issued to vehicles that are visibly derelict, undrivable, or are being used for long-term storage on our streets. We are also asking Council to amend its parking permit policy to make it clear that it will not issue or renew permits to vehicles that degrade neighbourhood amenity.
